The Institute for Political Economy and Development (IPEAD), since 2016, has spearheaded the publication of a series of theoretical columns titled 'IPEAD Column: New Methodenstreit - Institutional and Radical Analysis of Political Economy and Philosophy (Op-Ed and Commentary).' This column series explores the evolving landscape of political economy through the lens of institutional and radical economic theories. It revisits the historical Methodenstreit - the methodological dispute that shaped the foundations of modern economics - while advancing contemporary debates on economic methodologies, power dynamics, and philosophical underpinnings. They critically examine how institutional frameworks, historical materialism, and radical perspectives intersect with today’s global economic crises, pushing beyond mainstream narratives. Each piece provides sharp, thought-provoking commentary on policy implications, economic justice, and the philosophical roots of inequality and development. Through this series, the IPEAD aims to foster intellectual dialogue and challenge conventional economic models, offering nuanced insights for scholars, policymakers, and activists alike.
